Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

Superbowl Sunday is usually all about chips, dip, and fried unhealthy foods. Even though we love some chips and queso, healthy snacks like these spicy roasted chickpeas won’t make you feel so bad after eat several handfuls!

I love these because they are a great weight management snack providing crunch and spice.  The spice heats your body’s core temperature which in turn revs up the metabolism and the crunch will satisfy the munchies.  I almost ate the entire batch once they came out of the oven because they are addicting!

For this recipe you will need:

1 can (15 oz.) chickpeas, rinsed and drained

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 Tbsp ground cumin

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp chili powder

1 pinch sea salt

1 pinch ground black pepper

1 pinch red pepper flakes

First, heat the oven to 400 degrees F and arrange a rack in the middle.

Then, rinse the chickpeas in a colander or strainer and drain on paper towels.  Gently pat dry to remove the excess water.  Place the chickpeas in a large bowl and toss with the remaining ingredients until evenly coated.  Spread the chickpeas in an even layer onto a baking sheet and bake until crisp, about 25-30 minutes.

It is that simple! You will love this amazing snack that is loaded with fiber and protein. Happy Superbowl Sunday!
