Happy December 1st! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We had a great time celebrating with Mitch’s family in The Woodlands. Now, not only is my body in need of a little detox but I also need to finish decorating my home for the best holiday of the year: Christmas!!
Christmas has always had my heart and I think it’s because we get enough time to celebrate it as we start to watch Christmas movies, listen to Christmas music, and decorate weeks in advance to the actual day. Here’s a little secret… I started listening to Christmas music the beginning of November. The sounds, smells, and flavors of Christmas make me feel so cozy inside.
I typically go with a theme each year for how I want to set up my house. Sometimes it’s all about red & green or going with more of a ski lodge theme, while other times I’ve decorated our Christmas tree to be a bit more Dr. Seuss-y. This year, I’m going with a winter wonderland theme. I want the house to look white, clean, and glisten with glitter to represent snow. We still have red and green throughout the house as I want to use the decor that I have but I’m also really into the snowy look. I always wish that we lived somewhere other than Texas during Christmastime as I would LOVE to be in a cold, snowy environment during this magical time. Oh well… gotta make the best with what we have!
It can be hard to justify spending money on all of the holiday decor but a little can go a long way. Believe me, I too would rather spend more money on Christmas gifts than expensive wreaths and lights. You don’t have to have a huge house with a gigantic fireplace and/or staircase to decorate your home. We don’t even have a fireplace! Not all of our homes can look like Turtle Creek Lane… but we can still be in the festive holiday spirit!
I hope everyone has a wonderful start to this wonderful time of the year.
