Chia, Green Tea, and Fruit Smoothie


One of my favorite gifts which I received for Christmas is my brand new Ninja blender.  I have been in desperate need of a blender and my lovely boyfriend’s parents were so kind enough to buy me one.  I have been experimenting with different smoothies and so far my chia, green tea, and fruit smoothie has been my favorite. It’s creamy, delicious, and extremely healthy for you.

Healthy smoothies are a wonderful alternative to a meal because they are filling, satisfying, and loaded with good-for-you vitamins to keep you alert and going throughout the day.  I enjoy making a smoothie right before I’m about to walk out of the door in the mornings.

For this recipe you will need:

1 packet green tea

2 Tbsp chia seeds

2 Tbsp honey

1/4 cup plain kefir

1.5 c frozen or fresh blueberries

1 small banana

3/4 c vanilla almond milk


Microwave a cup of water on high until steaming hot.  Add the green tea bag and let steep for 5-10 minutes.  Then, combine the blueberries, banana, chia seeds, almond milk and ice in the blender.  Blend until smooth.  Once the green tea has cooled, add the tea, kefir, honey, and ice to the blender.  If the mixture is too thick for your liking, simple add a few tablespoons of water.

Enjoy at any time of the day!
