Candied Nuts


Candied nuts, whether it be walnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, etc., are addicting. This recipe makes for the perfect little snack, party appetizer, or holiday treat. 

This recipe is so easy because you most likely already have the ingredients in your kitchen. I had some pecans and almonds in my pantry so that’s what I used today. No, these aren’t exactly healthy because they are coated in sugar; however, they are a simple and unique way to serve nuts as a snack.

For this recipe you will need:

1 cup nuts (whichever you prefer)

1 cup sugar

1 egg white

1 Tbsp salt

Water, as needed

Pink Himalayan sea salt, garnish (optional)

First, whisk the egg white in a bowl until light, frothy, and begins to expand in size. Then, add the sugar and mix well until the mixture resembles icing. Use water to loosen the mixture if it is too tight. Add the salt and give it a final whisk. Coat the nuts with the egg white/sugar mixture and spread out evenly onto a sheet pan. Even though the nuts should be evenly coated, they shouldn’t be very wet to the point where a large amount of sugar is poured onto the sheet pan because it will burn quickly.

Bake for 5-7 minutes and then give the nuts a stir. Bake for an additional 3-5 minutes and remove from the oven. Sprinkle with a small amount of pink sea salt. Be careful because hot sugar is nothing to play with! Allow the nuts to cool completely before eating or storing. These things are so delicious- you will love them!
