I love lavender whether it be lavender candles, lavender bubble bath, lavender oil, etc. Lavender is known for easing anxiety, stress, insomnia and restlessness. I think we can all use a little more lavender because sometimes life is just stressful. I know there is nothing like taking a hot bath at night with my lavender detox bath infusion. I can hear angels singing when I step into the tub. Furthermore, recent studies suggest that consuming lavender oil may help digestive issues such as nausea and an upset stomach. Overall, lavender is just the bomb dot com.
For this recipe you will need:
1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 Tbsp fresh lavender, plus more for garnish
2 cups red wine vinegar
Frist, combine the strawberries, blueberries, sugar and lavender in a bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. This process is called maceration which means the sugar will extract all of the sweet juices from the berries. Then, strain the mixture and use a spatula to press on the fruit to extract even more syrupy juice. Whisk the red wine vinegar into the berry liquid. To serve, pour 2 Tbsp of the mixture into an ice-filled glass and add 8 ounces of sparkling water. Stir gently and top with additional lavender for garnish. This is the perfect drink for the hot summer months ahead!
