An Amazing, Magical Honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii

Aloha! Mitch and I just spent a 7 day, 7 night honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii and it was absolutely perfect!

The last time I had visited Hawaii was on a big family vacation in 2009. We went on a cruise for my mom’s birthday which bounced around from island to island. It was a great trip with my family but I also wasn’t old enough to legally enjoy an alcoholic beverage and explore on my own… two things every adult should enjoy as their privilege!

So this time around it was just Mitch and I and the beautiful Hawaiian environment. We stayed at Four Seasons Maui as we love the Four Seasons so much! We got married at Four Seasons Austin for crying out loud. They were nice enough to upgrade us to a beautiful garden/ocean-view suite since we used FS properties for both wedding and honeymoon. There’s a reason why the Four Seasons is a luxury hotel brand… their service and attention to detail goes unnoticed.

The first couple of days Mitch and I spent lounging around the hotel moving from pool to ocean back to the pool. Our main goal was to do as little as possible and just relax to the fullest. On the third day, we decided it was time to venture outside of the hotel… our wallets were also thanking us. We went on a snorkeling tour to Molokini Crater where we were able to swim with sea turtles. It was the coolest thing that I will never forget! I  would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared that a tiger shark was about to pop up out of no where and eat me… thank goodness that didn’t happen. Thank you Alii Nui Sailing for a wonderful time sailing on the Pacific!

The rest of the week was spent lounging at Serenity Pool overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean and drinking all of the tropical drinks I could consume without getting sick. We enjoyed a happy hour at Monkey Pod where we had the best mai tai’s. Their fun twist on the popular Hawaiian drink is the honey liliko‘i foam they add at the very end… highly recommend! Be careful though… real mai tais are made with lots of booze so you’ll be feeling good very quickly.

On Saturday, we rented a convertible and explored Maui- visiting Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm, waterfalls, and Ho’okipa Beach. It was fun to see a different side of the island as the lavender farm is more country-ish surrounded by rolling, green hills overlooking the ocean. The north side of the island where the Ho’okipa Beach is has massive waves and tons of surfers taking advantage of each swell. There’s a beach near there called Jaws where waves can reach up to 35 or more feet. More power to the surfers taking that risk!

We stopped for lunch at Mama’s Fish House Restaurant as so many people told us it is a great place to dine. Go visit Mama’s Fish House if you are planning a trip to Maui… their ceviche OMG… so good. It was a great day just cruising around with my new hubby!

Although Mitch and I both feel like whales and as if we gained 10 pounds each, we had such a wonderful honeymoon and I  can’t imagine spending an entire week in paradise with anyone but him. Thank you Four Seasons Maui for a great stay and taking such good care of us. We will be back!!

Top 5 Things To Do/See On Maui:

  1. Alii Nui Snorkeling Tours
  2. Spend a day touring Road to Hana or just cruise around the island in a rental car
  3. Drink a mai tai at Monkey Pod
  4. Check out the massive swells at Ho’okipa Beach
  5. Visit Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm

Before you visit Maui, I recommend doing your research first. Make sure you are aware of prices and how much you will be spending as Maui can be quite expensive… especially where we were at Wailea Beach. Also, it helps to know what adventures you will want to go on so you can plan out your trip accordingly.

I hope everyone gets to visit Maui at least once in their life! It truly is paradise.

XX,

JJ
