Happy Sunday! Yesterday, my boyfriend Taylor and I spent a beautiful first-part of our day hiking at McKinney Falls followed by a delicious lunch at one of my new favorite spots here in Austin. There really is nothing like getting outdoors and soaking up nature. It does wonders for your mood, might I add.
Besides the amazing variety of places to dine here in Austin, I love the fact that there are so many outdoor activities to participate in. The entire community is really committed to being outside and getting some kind of physical activity in or just soaking up all of nature’s benefits. Whether it’s riding your bike, taking a walk, kayaking, hiking, etc. there is always something to do and I just love it. McKinney Falls State Park was absolutely beautiful and the hiking trail so pleasant. It was about a 3 mile hike going up and down rocky slopes and into shady, grassy areas surrounded by yellow flowers and trees. The creek and small water falls were also a magnificent backdrop, as well.
Being outside really helps me let go of any unnecessary stress I have built inside me or concerns. There’s just something about mother nature and all she has to offer that helps us release the tension we carry every day. No matter where you live- whether it’s by a beautiful ocean, tall mountains, parks, flat plains that stretch for miles – go outside and enjoy it. I can’t say I got to do these fun things while living back at home, but I would still make an effort to atleast take our family dog for a walk around the neighborhood. Even something that simple made me feel better.
Moreover, the lunch we had at Texas French Bread was ahhhmazing! Talk about a cute, quaint little restaurant with natural light shining through the windows and nice servers ready to meet your every needs. That’s one of the main things I look for in a restaurant – how friendly and helpful the staff is. I had the BLT on homemade, toasted whole wheat bread with a side of frites (french fries) and aioli. Taylor had a smoked turkey breast sandwich on whole wheat sourdough with their homemade honey mustard and a side tortilla soup. Talk about some kind of good! There’s nothing like treating yourself to a nice lunch after a 3 mile hike.
So, hopefully you can make this Sunday the best one yet by living to your full potential- get outside, eat some good food, and count your blessings!
