Healthy Breakfast

Healthy Breakfast

Good morning and Happy Tuesday! We’ve made it through Monday and now it’s time to conquer a new day.  Maybe you planned on making healthier choices yesterday,  but the day didn’t go as planned and you ended up picking up fast food for dinner.  That’s ok, because today is a new day and you can start being healthy right now!

Living a healthy life doesn’t come over night.  It takes self discipline, determination, and a little knowledge.  Of course, we can’t be healthy 24-7-365, but we sure can be healthy the majority of the time.  One of my biggest weaknesses is sweets, but I’m not going to give up chocolate because then I’ll feel completely deprived.  The goal is not to feel deprived, but to feel healthy and be proactive about your smart eating choices.

Start your day off with a healthy breakfast.  Chances are, once you begin the day eating and feeling healthy, you will continue to make smart eating choices as the day progresses.  Don’t think just because it’s breakfast and you will “burn it off” as the day wears on, you can eat french toast, a pound of bacon, and cheesy breakfast potatoes. I do believe you can be a little more lenient in the morning because yes, you have all day long to burn it off, but it’s easier to stay healthy all day long once we’ve made a smart choice for our first meal of the day.

In the picture above, I have strawberry Kefir with blueberries, pecans, and sun-dried cranberries.  If you are not familiar with Kefir, it is a cultured, nutritious, fermented milk drink which supports a healthy digestive system and balances your “inner ecosystem.”  It is delicious and much more nutritious than yogurt.  Also, it is great because it can be poured over fruit, nuts, or granola to make a hearty, filling breakfast. Give it a try if you haven’t before!

Have a wonderful day!
