It’s amazing how you can make some delicious recipes and creative beauty products just by using certain power foods in your kitchen.  Healthy foods have a purpose for everything, even your beauty regimen!  I discovered an amazing brightening tomato face mask you can make in no time and use whenever you would like.

I’m all about beauty products that prohibit premature aging, fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes.  I believe it is so important that we take care of our skin now, because it may be too late later on in life.  If you don’t already apply sunscreen before you leave the house, start doing it today! Skin cancer is serious, my friends. I like to apply a 30 SPF moisturizer every morning to my face and neck.

Eating certain foods such as blueberries, strawberries, salmon, walnuts, and drinking lots of H2O will most definitely promote skin health; however, you can take things a step further by applying tomatoes to your face.  Yes, tomatoes. I learned about this tomato face mask through last month’s issue of Natural Health. It is super simple to make and will brighten your face and lessen the appearance of dark spots and dullness.

For this tomato face mask, you will need:

1 Tbsp tomato puree, preferably organic
3 Tbsp rolled oats
1 egg white
1/2 lemon juice
1 tsp cornstarch or arrowroot

Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl – the acid in the tomatoes and lemon juice make react poorly when mixing in a metal bowl.  Stir until the egg whites dissolve and all ingredients are well combined.  Apply the mask to a clean face and rub in circular motions, avoiding your eyes.  Leave on skin for 10 to 12 minutes and rinse with warm water.

I recommend using this face mask about 3 times a week.  Enjoy!
